Due to many requests from customers of my Merc SLK SLC R172 Wind Deflectors for R172 roll bar inserts I decided to give them a bash.. Merc SLK/SLC R172 roll bar inserts are now finally available!!

These were more complicated to produce because of the slight curvature inside the roll bars. This curve also made it more difficult to achieve the correct size & i wasn’t able to determine the size until I had the curve made… AArrgghh..

I also had to replicate the tabs on top & bottom to correctly fit into the original slots on the inner sides of the roll bars. Thanks to the precision of modern CNC machining , this wasn’t a big issue..

After machining, the flat Perspex insert is laser engraved with whatever logo or design the customer wants.. Then the Perspex is heated to exactly 160 degrees C & timed . Once soft enough it is then placed between 2 forms to shape the curve & it is allowed to cool. Once the temperature drops to 90 Degrees C it is removed from between the forms. The last step is to flame polish the edges ..

These roll bar inserts are made from the same shade Perspex as my Wind Deflectors & therefore compliment them perfectly.
